And then, just like that, the room had filled up. A diverse array of people settled on sofas, chairs or the floor; the chattering around them was loud, until finally--

"OKAY EVERYONE SHUT UP WE'RE STARTING."

-- Trent's voice cut through the noise. He struck a loud note on his bass to give his voice some strength.

And just like that, everyone shut up.

Jack snorted softly, but he sat up a little. "Right, so you guys know the drill," he said, "We're doing the Christmas classics. To get me through this without severe drinking, we kick off with 'Fairytale of New York' and I get to do at least one song of my own choosing."

He clapped his hands. "And no, I'm not bringing the piano into this, this isn't bingo night."

Dane snickered, turning to his guitar, his fingers already picking the opening piano melody to 'Fairytale of New York' on the strings.
