Peragus Mining Facility, Couple Minutes After The Last Post
It took one look at the mess that awaited on the other side of the cell block for Atton to figure out he had some paranoid miners to thank. After all, if they hadn't locked him away behind three layers of security, he would've been deader than all of these wrecked droids combined. Special knack or no.
What was it about him that made it impossible to stick to a quiet life? Didn't matter how far he ran, trouble always managed to show up. Usually Jedi-shaped trouble.

Atton | "All right. Here we are." The station's comms and security set-up was bog-standard. Three consoles, a bunch of viewscreens and data. Dead for the moment, but he could figure that one out. "Now this console is set on automatic hail, you may have heard it when you came in," he said, stepping up to the main command console. He slid his fingers over the controls. "The asteroid drift charts are constantly being updated, so it sends out a transmission so incoming ships don't get ground into space dust. The hail warns them to keep their distance until orbital drift charts are transmitted, and then provides docking instructions to incoming ships... usually freighters." He touched a few keys. "Thing is, you can bounce that same transmission back to the comm here... and suddenly, you've got access to the communications systems from the inside." The console gave a bleep. "Pure pazaak. Console's ours." Wait. This didn't look right. Some systems weren't accessible. "--Hey." |
Meetra | The situation had seemed cautiously promising so far. Apparently not. "Sounds like you're about to tell me something I don't want to hear," Meetra muttered. |
Atton | He wasn't doing much to impress her - or improve their chances - was he? "This system's been severed from the main hub - after it was locked down from remote. You can't even reroute the system, it's been cut clean." Probably on purpose. Atton couldn't think of a way this could've happened on accident. |
Meetra | "Did someone do it on purpose?" Meetra asked - though she was sure of it the moment she said it. She was no mechanical expert, but considering the circumstances... |
Atton | "That's my guess," Atton said, nodding. "To cut off the console specifically from remote then sever the hub - it doesn't get any more deliberate than that." |
Meetra | Meetra sighed in irritation. "There must be some way to end the lockdown from here," she said. She had no intention of coming all the way back to the known galaxy just to die on a mining station. |
Atton | "I doubt it," Atton muttered. Yeah, he didn't want to die here either, but right now their chances looked kind of bleak. "All we have is communications back, for all the good trying to shout into a vacuum will do us." She was a Jedi, wasn't she? Couldn't she go punch her way out? |
Meetra | "I want to try and see if I can contact someone over the comm," Meetra said stubbornly. If she, Atton and Kreia could make it out alive-- well, they couldn't be the only ones. |
Atton | "Be my guest," Atton said, throwing up his hands. "Not much else we can do. The comm is all yours." |
Meetra | Meetra brushed past him to access the console. First, she called up the logs, cycling through the last few entries. There was little there she didn't know: the log corroborated what Atton had told her about her arrival, but little else. Except... there was mention here of a droid that they'd brought onto the station. It had shut itself down and refused to respond to any other commands. Could it be-- the little droid she remembered from her few waking moments aboard the vessel that had brought her here? She called up the comm system and patched through to Hangar Bay 25. "Can you read me?" The answer was a long series of bleeps and boops - droid language. She released a sigh of relief. "Are you operational?" Affirmative. "We're trapped up on the administration level. Can you unlock the turbo lifts?" Doubt. Then, a negative. "Is there another way out of here outside of the turbolifts?" Beep. Doot doot. Beep. "We'll risk it," Meetra said. "Rather that than being trapped up here." Another affirmative, then the comms shut off. |
Atton | Funny how that exchange was nearly impossible to parse from the outside. "What's going on?" Atton asked, crossing his arms. |
Meetra | "There's a droid," Meetra said. "He was onboard the vessel that brought me here - the Ebon Hawk. He's still operational. He's going to find us an exit." She leaned back against the divider. "So now we wait." |
Atton | "Great," Atton muttered, walking back up to the console. "Trusting droids. Always a great idea." |
