The Temple, Sunday
It had been quiet for a few weeks. Training, interspersed with surveillance missions, followed by more training. Atton would've been glad for it, but being here made him ansty a lot of the time, and with the Sith still missing in action--
He was very, very antsy.
Even Mical had noticed, as evidenced by the few, awkward attempts the man had made at starting a conversation. (Ugh.) And... "Oh, here he comes again," Atton muttered, watching Mical stride across the large hall with worry in his eyes. "I'm fine!"
"Atton, I would like to avoid doing this again," Mical said, irritated. "Believe me, I would. But this is not about your intransigent habits, it is an emergency. I just received a distress call. It is Mira, she needs backup, and I would send Visas--"
"But I'm your best bet," Atton said flatly. "I get it, I get it. Give me five minutes to get my gear and to tell Sparkle what's up and I'll be on my way."
With that said, he hurried up the stairs to the dorm wing.

"Okay." Okay? "Okay. I'll just kind of... keep going on the way I have been until there's either you, or news. But if it's not that first one..."
He waved a first in the air halfheartedly. What would he do? Punch Atton's ghost?

He took a deep breath.
"Sorry about this."

And it probably would've been his life for years now if he didn't have some idiot kid running around, keeping his work-life balance somewhat sensible, but he wasn't about to say that.
"So, any last words?"

Sparkle considered for a moment.
"Pride's next weekend," he settled on. "I want my brother there for moral support again. Don't get dead."
It was about as mushy as he figured he could get away with. He was going for it.

And all was once again right in the world. Sparkle stuck out his tongue at Atton, but overall, he seemed mollified.
"You knew what you were getting into back when we were both still in school," he decided. "... But yeah."
Clingy asshole.

It was a great gesture, wasn't it?
"Catch you on the flipside, then," he replied. "Go kick ass."
