There'd been a lot of loose ends left behind after their several-month romp with Meetra last year. They hadn't really had the resources to pursue most of them, but those were starting to come pouring in. So it was time to tie up some of them, and of course Mical had tapped Atton for it, as his first mission after his little 'vacation'.

'Simple and unlikely to end in conflict', the man had said. Yeah, right. Atton remembered what Atris had been like-- sure, she'd been on their side the last time they'd seen her, but left alone to her own devices? Who could say she hadn't snapped again? They hadn't even cleared out the holocrons last time. (And of course Mical had been excited about finally securing the holocrons somewhere safe. Bomb 'em and bury 'em, if you asked Atton.)

So Atton had been sent out without a second Jedi. Which had forced him to do something he generally tried to avoid: drag in Anakin Skywalker.

At least that'd give them the element of surprise...

He set the Ebon Hawk down on the snowy plateau that made up the roof of the hidden Telosian Academy. It'd be cold out - what with it being on one of the poles and everything - which meant he had to do another thing he didn't like.

"Ugh. Jedi robes."

They landed on Telos just an hour too late. Kreia had fled, and the underground complex that Atris inhabited... seemed very quiet. Empty, almost. Meetra led Atton and Mira down through the twisting hallways, following the one strong Force signature she could still sense up ahead.

But was it Atris, or the Handmaiden they had found?
