Office #30, Tuesday

You know, Atton had almost forgotten what it was like having time off. Now that he did - most of today, in fact - he wasn't sure what to do with himself. So after waking up that morning he'd ambled down to his office and flopped down in his chair.

In which he was now napping. Because a single night's sleep just didn't make up for several consecutive missed single night's sleeps, and because he'd woken up too early this morning off a few fantastic nightmares anyway.

So there was no loud music pouring out of his office today.

Just snoring.

All the offices seemed to be about the same when the doors were closed. Which made it a might difficult to figure out which Wash's might be.

So. That was fun.

Snoring was a sign of life, which was why he was peeking into an office To find... that guy from the party."Great."

Atton was not an especially deep sleeper, so he opened one eye and squinted.

He sensed who the guy was before he did so. The armor, though... "Huh," he said.

"You're a teacher."

That seemed about the long and short of it.

"And you're still an asshole," Atton observed cheerfully. "And possibly a Mandalorian. Great."

"Feeling's mutual," Wash replied dryly. "What's a Mandalorian?"

If it was dirty, he was gonna be so pissed.

"An asshole in fancy armor," Atton said.

"I really can't even correct that," Wash replied. "Other than 'its pronounced Freelancer'."

"A Mandalorian in any galaxy," Atton said.

"So what's an asshole not in armor?"

"Pretty sure that's just an asshole."

"Darn. Hoped to have something to call you."

"You need my help to come up with insults?" Atton asked, raising an eyebrow. "That's weak."

"Sure. We'll go with that."

"Did you come here to do anything other than be quote-unquote clever?" Atton asked. "Because you're not very entertaining."

"I was looking for my office and this one seemed empty," Wash replied. "

Atton rolled his eyes. "Next time, go bug the office moose," he said. "That guy should know."

That got such a sigh.

"Right. I'll just let you get back to your 'lesson planning'.

"It's called napping," Atton said.

What, screw you, he'd been bouncing around fighting the good fight for two weeks, he was allowed a damn nap.

Like Washington knew that!

Even then. Time and place for naps.

Washington didn't need to know! Atton would just bring the full strength of his moral righteousness to bear in his attitude!

His largely apathetic attitude.

"I'm pretty sure I have a sheet of gold stars somewhere in this desk," Atton returned.

Wash looked down at the desk like he seriously doubted that. It was difficult to portray throw a helmet, but he felt he conveyed it pretty well.

"What, you want me to pin gold star stickers on your helmet?" Atton asked. "Sure, if that's your thing. I won't ask questions."

"No, I'm just doubting that you can find anything in there."

Atton opened a drawer.

He found a pen.

He tossed the pen at Wash's helmet with uncanny accuracy.

"Wow. A pen."

Much impressed.

"It's your own fault for not specifying 'anything'," Atton said, shrugging.

"And you promised gold stars."

Wash was moderately disappointed at the lack of them.

"Well, life's just a valley of sadness and disappointment."

This was true.

"Aren't you a ball of sunshine."

And yes, he appreciated the irony of him being the one to say that.
