Office #30, Tuesday

It was a Tuesday. Atton hadn't been in his office in a long time, but it was a Tuesday, and he was in it.

... out of spite. The leg injury made it hard to walk for large amounts of time, so of course he had to walk all the way from his apartment to his office just to prove he could. At which point he'd had to take a painkiller and prop his leg back up on a chair and he probably wasn't leaving the office again until well into the afternoon, but he had food here and the HoloNet. He'd be fine.

Stupid leg.

He propped himself up a little more and opened up the simulation program for Thursday's class. Might as well put in the work to make it as fantastic as possible, and thinking about programming and numbers gave him something to focus on.

"Yeah, yeah, next time, will you please remember that I keep this device by my ears?" Atton griped right back. "Have you ever heard of volume control? Seriously?"

"I've spent half the summer with small shrieking children and their shrieking friends so...not really?" Anakin admitted.

Atton rolled his eyes. "Right," he said, "You need to stop by here, get drunk, maybe look at the Playboy channel for two seconds, maybe that'll snap you out of it."

"Sounds kind of great, really," Anakin said. "How's the island? Any smoking rubble?"

"We were abducted by some species a few weeks ago," Atton said, shrugging a little, "But we came out fine. Barring maybe your buddy Kenobi, but that's got less to do with the abduction and more with the island."

"Is he all right?" Anakin said, sounding really, really too invested.

[suitably_heroic]

Atton rolled his eyes. "The island dragged him back for a class and it's been pranking him every week," he said, "Going by radio, anyway. What do you think?"

Anakin burst out laughing. "I'm glad the island found a new target. Does that make me terrible?"

"Yes," Atton said, without hesitation. "You're a horrible sentient, and you deserve the grief those kids have been giving you."

Not that he particularly liked Kenobi, but still!

"What has the island been doing to Obi-Wan?" Anakin asked.

[suitably_heroic]

"Well, yesterday, it apparently released gremlins on his final," Atton said. "Just to start with."

"Did he get bitten?" Anakin asked.

[suitably_heroic]

"Radio didn't say," Atton said, a shrug in his voice. "Go check the podcasts if you're that eager to know the rest of it."

That might have been a fiendish little giggle Anakin let out just now.

"I will. How have you been, Mical aside?"

[suitably_heroic]

The giggle was weird, Skywalker.

"Eh, same old," he said. (Also known as 'wildly erratic and occasionally mellow'.) "It's been nice and quiet outside of the parts where I volunteer to get shot at. Probably because someone isn't around waving his melodramatic robes at everyone and throwing people through doors."

He'd been into the radio archives. So sue him.

"I haven't thrown people through doors in a while!" Anakin protested. "Zoe said they were hard to replace."

The doors, not the people.

"The doors or the people?" Atton asked.

[sith_happened]

There was a suspiciously long pause.

"...yes?"

[suitably_heroic]

"Space," Atton said.

[sith_happened]

"Well, to be fair, most of the people I punted through the door completely deserved it," Anakin said, "especially my grandkid."

Atton whistled. "Not a kindly old grandfather, are you, Skywalker?"

[sith_happened]

"Not when people who kriffing well should know better go Sith on me," Anakin said.

[suitably_heroic]

"Hey, a schutta is a schutta," Atton said, "Don't have to bring Sith into it."

[sith_happened]

"Well, he was a schutta and a Sith, and obnoxious enough that even I noticed it," Anakin said.

Atton pulled a face. "How bad was it exactly?"
