Office #30, Tuesday

It was a Tuesday. Atton hadn't been in his office in a long time, but it was a Tuesday, and he was in it.

... out of spite. The leg injury made it hard to walk for large amounts of time, so of course he had to walk all the way from his apartment to his office just to prove he could. At which point he'd had to take a painkiller and prop his leg back up on a chair and he probably wasn't leaving the office again until well into the afternoon, but he had food here and the HoloNet. He'd be fine.

Stupid leg.

He propped himself up a little more and opened up the simulation program for Thursday's class. Might as well put in the work to make it as fantastic as possible, and thinking about programming and numbers gave him something to focus on.

"Wonder where he got that from," Atton mused.

"Hey!" Anakin protested.

"It was just a question," Atton said, smirking, "Is there something you haven't told me?

"I'm no sleemo," Anakin proclaimed. "I'm very upfront about being unpleasant."

[suitably_heroic]

"You do kind of radiate 'I'm a frizzled, laserbrained wermo with a perpetual rage-on'," Atton agreed, "But hey, that doesn't stop a guy from being a sleemo."

"It stops me from being a sleemo," Anakin said. "...Right?"

"Eh. You did kind of turn into a Sith Lord for a while there," Atton said.

[sith_happened]

"But that was a long time ago now!" Anakin protested. "I haven't reverted in years!"

Very persuasive, Anakin.

"But you did," Atton said lightly.

Y'know. For the record.

Anakin scowled. It was very ineffective over a phone line.

"That wasn't my fault."

[suitably_heroic]

"Are we going to be going over the entire list of ineffective, weasely excuses now," Atton said, "Or is your pride going to let this go? I'm good either way."

There was a long pause. Finally, Anakin muttered, "Let it go," like it physically pained him to say so.

"Hey, look," Atton said, "Unlike your sleemo grandson, you're almost a grown-up."

[sith_happened]

"Plus I'm still alive."

Way to COMPLETELY FAIL at talking to other humans, Anakin.

In his defense, he was talking to Atton, who didn't really count as a normal human under any circumstances.

"So hey, you're also better at not being a complete idiot," he said. "Pat yourself on the back!"

"Hooray for me," Anakin said. "I can't believe I'm actually missing being at the school."

"Me neither," Atton said lightly. "Though it's been pretty relaxed, outside of the aliens thing."

[sith_happened]

"I could use some relaxed," Anakin said. "Rory left reading lists and French tutor instructions, which basically meant her mom's friend Michel up in Connecticut and he hates me. Well, he hates everyone, but he is not, as he said, in the habit of teaching small children annnnyzhing."

Atton let out a little snort. "You sound like some of Sparkle's weirder countrymen when you do that," he said. (He was kind enough not to just say 'Lewis'.) "Anyway, yeah, it's been quiet. I've been spending most of my time here on the sofa."

With the Playboy channel!

"Sounds riveting," Anakin said dryly.

Atton shrugged. "When I go home, I get shot at," he said. "I like to vary my routine."

"Is that why Mical keeps calling?" Anakin asked.

[suitably_heroic]

"No?" Atton tried.

[sith_happened]

Anakin groaned. "Where did you get shot and how badly?"

[suitably_heroic]

"I did not get shot," Atton said, rolling his eyes.

Which was true! Force-worms didn't have the limbs required to shoot anything.
