MCA #4, Monday Evening

Atton had woken up that morning with only a passable idea of what had happened the previous night; there'd been five full bottles of juma in his fridge, no food anywhere, and an overly enthusiastic message from Skywalker confirming drinking plans Atton had no memory of proposing to the guy. He'd decided the wise thing to do was to get back into bed and maybe not get out of it until he stopped feeling completely miserable on every level.

By five PM, he'd given up on that, and ordered pizza.

By eight PM, he'd opened the second bottle of juma and he was waiting, patiently, for the inevitable dramatic knock/sweep into the room combo that generally heralded Skywalker arriving just about anywhere.

"Same here," Atton said. He finished the bottle. "Pretty sure last summer was supposed to be my curtain call."

"You like me," Atton retorted, "I've seen you go all adorable puppy face about it. Leave the playing the hardass card to the professionals."

"I do not have an adorable puppy face!" Anakin declared.

"Yeah, you do," Atton said, and promptly attempted to imitate it.

It would've looked deeply ironic on him even if he hadn't been drunk.

Anakin snorted alcohol out of his nose. "What was that?"

"An expression I can't reproduce because I," Atton said, reaching for a nearby bottle of juma, "Am a badass."

"So am I," Anakin said. "I can prove it!"

This will only end in tears.

"You're really good at glowering and throwing people through doors," Atton said, "But you're this cute doe-eyed Tatooine kid underneath."

Anakin glared at him. "Not many people have ever learned that."

Atton shrugged. "Most people get too annoyed by your jackass act to pay attention," he said, "I'd congratulate you on the tactics if I thought you were doing it on purpose."

"I'm doing some of it on purpose," Anakin said. "I'm not really good with people, so I make sure most of them don't put in the effort."

"That's kind of sad," said Atton, who did much worse. For complicated reasons, but still.

Atton took a big sip of his juma. "Definitely."

"Then I'm kind of sad," Anakin said. "Friendship isn't really a thing I do."

Atton considered that.

He shrugged.

Then he threw the lid of the juma bottle at Anakin.

Anakin batted it away, giving him a tiny smile. "Jerk."

"You gotta lighten up more," Atton said, "I mean, even I think so."

"I can be light," Anakin said. "...sometimes."

"Usually when you've got a belly full of Corellian whiskey," Atton said, "But sure. Sometimes."

"You've met Obi-Wan. Lightness wasn't really his forte either," Anakin said.

"Which is kind of ironic, considering you were both supposed to be Light Side Jedi," Atton noted.

"You know what this calls for?" Atton said, taking a swig from the bottle. "A really stupid holovid. Like, profoundly dumb."
