Atton had woken up that morning with only a passable idea of what had happened the previous night; there'd been five full bottles of juma in his fridge, no food anywhere, and an overly enthusiastic message from Skywalker confirming drinking plans Atton had no memory of proposing to the guy. He'd decided the wise thing to do was to get back into bed and maybe not get out of it until he stopped feeling completely miserable on every level.

By five PM, he'd given up on that, and ordered pizza.

By eight PM, he'd opened the second bottle of juma and he was waiting, patiently, for the inevitable dramatic knock/sweep into the room combo that generally heralded Skywalker arriving just about anywhere.

He'd heard that hiring a kid with a kettle drum would just be gauche....

But there was Anakin, knocking imperiously (ha! he cracked himself up) on the door. "Atton?"

The door opened two seconds later.

"You're predictable."

"...by knocking on the door?" Anakin said. "I don't do singing telegrams, sorry."

Atton rolled his eyes as he stepped aside. "Hilarious."

He'd gotten an eyeroll out of it, which was pretty much the reason Anakin'd done it.

He held up a bottle of Corellian whiskey. "Seemed like it was this kind of night."

"I actually have plenty of juma in the fridge. Better than that stuff," Atton said, "But hey, thanks."

Anakin shrugged. "Well, you know. I don't like showing up empty handed."

"It's not a housewarming, Skywalker," Atton said, shutting the door behind him.

It was a 'I feel miserable and you're the only one I can brood and drink at out of the like, three people I actually talk to for various reasons' night.

"Well, maybe I wanted something other than juma," Anakin retorted, wrinkling his nose up in fake outrage.

"See, you future people have no taste," Atton said. He eyed his coffee table and wondered if he could get away with just giving Anakin his own bottle, then sighed and wandered off to find him a glass.

Anakin flopped down onto the sofa and put his feet up on the coffee table because Rory wasn't there to give him a Look about it.

"So how bad was yesterday?"

"Friend of mine is going to get booted out of his house, so pretty bad," Atton hedged.

Please. That part at least had been a distraction, if a depressing one.

He set the glass down in front of Anakin, then shoved the juma in his general direction.

Anakin put the whiskey down and reached for the juma, pouring a healthy measure into his glass. "Roommate dispute or a landlord thing?" he asked.

"Neighborhood running him out of town for not being appropriately rich and pretentious," Atton said, before grabbing for the whiskey.

He'd had enough juma that he wouldn't be complaining too much about the taste.

"Ugh," Anakin said feelingly. "No notice, I presume."

"Oh, there was a hearing about it yesterday," Atton said, "Which the owner of the house screwed up in the most spectacular way since-- well, going by the stories, since you went all, y'know, Sithy."

That was an exaggeration, but damn it, he'd had a long week.

Anakin arched up an eyebrow. "So he killed a bunch of people?"

Atton took a few steps towards the window, opened the door, and pulled a face at the squirrels. They ran off. Whether they were scared or they'd just thought about a really good way to describe that facial expression, he didn't know, and he didn't particularly care either.

"Confessed to stealing a couple of things and being attracted to a minor," he said. "So eh, somewhere in that ballpark."

He was not ever specifying which minor.

Anakin groaned. "So he's going to jail and all of the rich people are now really smug rich people and your friend's homeless."

"Yeah, so that was fantastic," Atton said. He wandered back to his seat and filled up his glass. "And last week was a heap of stinking bantha dung to begin with."

"Thus the excellent life choice of drinking a lot," Anakin said, holding up his glass in a silent cheers.

"Hey, at least this way I'm saving who knows how many people from having to listen to you complaining to them about kids over the phone," Atton said, taking a biiig sip from his glass.
