MCA #4, Early Saturday Morning
Oct. 18th, 2014 03:25 pm"I just received express thanks from the head miner on Keres II as well as the nearby systems dependent on it for ore," Mical said across the comm. He sounded downright perky - Atton didn't like it. "You improved the situation immeasurably."
"Yeah, it went okay," Atton said, pulling open the fridge and squinting around. Where was the milk...? "Everyone's recovered."
"Yes." A short pause. "I'm glad. You really came through, Atton."
There. There was the milk. Atton picked it up, rolling his eyes the whole way. Not that Mical was here to appreciate it. "Wll lm ownd mhlp gin."
"...What was that?"
"Can you actually use your ears for once?" Atton said, spitting out the cap of the milk bottle in the general direction of the sink. "Well, let me know if you need my help again. I don't actually mind running a couple of these things if they're actually helpful."
Okay, he probably didn't need to sound so adversarial on that, considering he'd only made up his mind about that two days ago, but still.
"Of course." Ugh, now he'd made Mical happy, by the sounds of it. He took a sip of the milk, and immediately remembered he didn't actually like Earth milk. Ugh. "Perhaps if you moved back to the Enclave--"
"Oh no," Atton said. "No way." Why did he even have the milk? Oh, right. Because it'd seemed like a huge, inspirational leap at the time. Now look who was regretting it? "If I live near you people I'm going to start hating all of your faces."
Mical's voice sounded even brighter. "Is that fondness I hear? Here I thought you'd said you already hated my f--"
"I do," Atton said, "So hey, imagine what would happen if I actually had to live near you." Beat. "Keep your ear to the ground, let me know if you need me, bye."
He clicked off his comm, which left him standing in his kitchen with milk he hated. That was a metaphor or something. Ugh, his life.
