Time felt like it was moving too slow. The old familiar grounds - grounds he'd been about to say goodbye to - seemed unreal, a mistake, his own heart racing to counter the slow rhythms around him. It was a terror, wasn't it? A terror of what being here meant.
Then he stepped into the central chambers, and time sped up, immeasurably fast. Padawans he didn't know chattering. Young Knights who were supposed to be younger, looking at him with big eyes.
No sign of Visas. Of Brianna. Of Mical. Not even Deesra. And Bastila was off-world with her karking offspring, which left...
Just him.
The only adult in the room.
Atton swallowed. And suddenly, the world seemed to jam entirely into place.
"Okay, fill me in more," he said. "I need last whereabouts, both theirs and Asida's. Then I need the combat-ready Knights to group up on the east, and any of you with pilot skills go on the west."
Mical had always said he was a good leader, when he actually bothered to apply himself. Well. Screw you too, Mical. Atton had pulled this off once on Dxun, and he was going to do it again.
( The Admiral looked pained. )
