Dante Sparda ([livejournal.com profile] rebelseekspizza)

  • Dante hails from the video game DmC: Devil May Cry, a western reboot/prequel/reimagining/AU (depending on who you ask) of the classic Japanese Spectacle Fighter series Devil May Cry.
  • Either way, this Dante is a teenage version of That Dante, with a few minor tweaks. (Don't let any fanboys tell you otherwise.) If there's no more reboot games, he's going to grow up to be this guy. And then this guy.
  • He's a 17-year-old sophomore for whom Fandom High is more or less the first time he's had anything close to a real education. He lives with [livejournal.com profile] not_every_mage. They get along. Dante tries not to sexile Anders all the time.
  • It's harder than it seems. (That's what she said.) Dante is, to quote the dev team, a 'thrill-seeking hedonist' who doesn't think he's going to live long enough to care about things like 'liver damage' and, you know, sex is fun? A lot of strings-free sex with hot people is even funner? And helps you forget about the trauma conga line that is your life?
  • Regular dalliances include [livejournal.com profile] spin_kick_snap, [livejournal.com profile] smilestopscars, [livejournal.com profile] not_a_moonie and [livejournal.com profile] goodforsix. I have no idea how I got into this or how it happened, but you can generally consider his entire journal a NSFW zone. I'm sorry.
  • He looks like an attractive, punky teenage kid who likes wearing tight clothing and tank tops, and is always wearing a red amulet; his PB is Boyd Holbrook in his few facial hair-less moments:

  • In reality, though, Dante is more or less an ethereal being shoved into a meat suit: his mother was an angel called Eva and his father was a demon called Sparda. In a few years he'll hit the first stage of his true form - or something close to it.
  • They're both dead or gone; Dante doesn't know. In fact, he doesn't know much of anything about what he is or his background, because Sparda wiped his memory when he was seven to keep him safe. Then dropped him off at an orphanage.
  • The orphanage was run by the same demons who were after Sparda and Eva and want Dante dead, too. His childhood is one big clump of trigger warnings for child abuse, followed by trigger warnings for self-harm as he hit his teenage years. I do not bring this stuff up lightly; during events such as weetiny, I keep tiny Dante restricted to pre-approved or pre-requested threads.
  • The demons still hound him. Some can manifest as humans, but their true forms live in Limbo, a plane Dante can access - but regular people can't. These days, he occasionally gets yanked back home to Limbo City by Portalocity, where the demons can pull him back into Limbo: they have no sway over Fandom's version of Limbo.
  • Dante also has an identical twin brother named Vergil he doesn't remember.
  • Dante is not terribly good at respecting the rules of supervillain drama.
  • His powers include, but aren't limited to: super-strength, a healing factor, a boggling ability to make gravity ignore him for spurts of time, the ability to manifest a sword named Rebellion, super-reflexes and the ability to generate an infinite amount of bullets for his guns, Ebony and Ivory.

Edward James Kenway ([livejournal.com profile] doesnotkneel)

  • Edward comes from what is arguably the last good Assassin's Creed game ever made, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. He's an ancestor of both the protagonist of Assassin's Creed III and the modern-day Assassin Desmond Miles.
  • Ed was born on the tenth of March 1693 to two poor sheep farmers in Swansea, Wales. Though they moved to Bristol several years later, Edward still has the accent to prove it.
  • He's a man of great ambition who spent most of his growing years stuck caring for sheep and selling wool on the market. He was fit for the last part, as he has what he calls 'the gift of gab'.
  • Still, this eats at him, resulting in something of a chip on his shoulder as far as rich noblemen are concerned. He hates them, but he also wants to be one of them.
  • In-game, he's played by (and modeled on) Matt Ryan. In Fandom, he's a teenager, however, and PBed by Charlie Hunnam, who manages that same level of blond dishevelment:

  • Outside of that chip, though, Edward is a generally pleasant, upbeat fellow who's no stranger to taking risks and having fun. He's presently a senior, dating the lovely [livejournal.com profile] wildandbrave.
  • Hasn't let his parents know he's alive yet. Oops.
  • When he gets home, he's going to follow the chip on his shoulder right off of the edge of the earth. That is to say, he's going to run off and quickly descend from being a privateer to just being a full-on pirate.
  • Eventually, he's going to wind up joining the Brotherhood of Assassins, but that's several decades of self-destructive, selfish behavior ahead.
  • The blood of the ancients runs in his veins, giving him limited powers of supernatural perception: he can combine all his senses into a unique sort of radar vision, allowing him to follow people across great distances, determine whether someone is friendly or hostile to him at a glance, and detect hidden things - and piles of hay.
  • Also likes parkour and is a not-terrible singer.

Cassandra Allegra Portia Fi-- GET ON WITH IT --Pentaghast ([livejournal.com profile] seeks_truth)

  • Cassandra's canon is the Dragon Age series, specifically Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age: Inquisition and the anime special Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker. She's an increasingly Big Deal in the DAverse as time goes on.
  • But right now she's a 17-ish year old junior with a bad temper, no patience, and a secret fondness for romance novels and [livejournal.com profile] gavegoodface.
  • She's from the continent of Thedas, specifically a small country named Nevarra, which is more or less a mashup of Andorra, the rest of the Pyrenees region, and Switzerland.
  • Nevarrans have very characteristic accents, a blend of German and French, and Cassandra is no different.
  • Cassandra was raised by her uncle, a reclusive Nevarran Death Mage (Mortalitasi), after her parents were murdered during a war about succession (she's part of a very large noble family) and her brother was killed by mages.
  • She's got something of an issue with mages because of this. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] not_every_mage and [livejournal.com profile] cracksmostly. In fact, she came back to Fandom after returning home this year because she wanted to keep an eye on Anders. And then Merrill showed up. Cass feels good about her choices.
  • She's wanted to join the Templars, an organisation that controls and guards mages, ever since her brother died. Instead her uncle steered her towards the Seekers, a more elite religious institution that polices the Templars and the less militant wings of the church.
  • She has been training to fight since she was a little girl; partly because of this, her writer, David Gaider, ordained that she should be played by Rinko Kikuchi, and I see no reason to disagree with him PB-wise:

  • She became a full Seeker last year, which means that outside of the religious and military training, she's also received special powers. She got these powers by being touched by a spirit after emptying herself of emotion, but she doesn't actually know that.
  • Either way, she's capable of fully removing all the magic from an area for a short period of time, call down power from the heavens to slam down on her enemies, and control anyone who has lyrium in their blood.
  • Thankfully, the only people at Fandom who would have lyrium in their blood is the two DA-verse mages, so y'all are safe.
  • Except from her temper. She likes to throw things.
  • Which will be fun when she grows up to be Pope one day.
  • She lives with the no-doubt perpetually facepalming [livejournal.com profile] stacyexperiment in room 415.

Jaq Atton Rand ([livejournal.com profile] suitablyheroic)

  • Atton Rand is a human disaster area, hailing from the unwieldingly-titled video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords. The game is set approximately 4000 years before the Original Trilogy of Star Wars films.
  • It, and the other Old Republic games, currently exists in a weird state of canon limbo where they're officially Not Part Of Canon but they're so far away from the new movies nobody has bothered retconning them yet, and an increasing numbers of Old Republic references are making their way into actual canon. So who knows? It might actually get recanonized.
  • KotOR 2 is in essence a deconstruction of Star Wars, questioning the Light Side/Dark Side divide, the constant usage of superweapons, the position of Jedi and Sith in relation to the rest of the galaxy, and a whole host of other things. It's great, though unfinished; several modders got together for years to more or less fix that last part.
  • Atton's place in his canon is to serve as a deconstruction of Han Solo: instead of being a harmless scoundrel with a fluffy heart, he's a smuggler with a really dark past who retreats behind the scoundrel facade to throw people off.
  • He's way smarter, more cunning, and more versatile than honestly even his best friends know - up to and including [livejournal.com profile] myownface. He likes to keep what he's capable of under wraps (though not nearly as much as he used to), partly for tactical reasons and partly because he's kind of ashamed of some of it.
  • ... and also partly because even Atton doesn't really know anymore how much of his ever-complaining, easily-stymied womanizing fool routine is genuinely him and how much of it's a scam.
  • He's PBed by the adorably weird French Canadian Marc-AndrĂ© Grondin, who makes very interesting choices a lot of the time. At least he's pretty:

  • Atton is a veteran of the three great wars of his time: the Mandalorian Wars, the Jedi Civil War and the Dark Wars. During that first war, he developed a strong dislike of Jedi, who he viewed as being philosophical, hypocritical dickheads who weren't willing to jump in and help when people were literally dying by the millions.
  • So he switched sides along with most of the Republic Army for the Jedi Civil War, in which the Jedi Revan - one of the few to step in and help during the Mandalorian Wars - became Sith and turned against the Republic. This is where Atton's dark past comes in: he used to capture, torture and assassinate Jedi for Revan's Empire.
  • Halfway in a young Jedi got into his head, revealed to him that he was a Force sensitive, and made it clear to him Revan's people would take him and break him into a Sith warrior if they found out.
  • Self-determination is probably the most important thing in the galaxy to Atton, so he ran off (or maybe it's because he saw the light; who knows?), made up a new name for himself and pretended to be a student at Fandom High. Eventually he was run out of town when people found out he'd been Sith.
  • After a few years, he ran straight into the last surviving Jedi - the Jedi Civil War had claimed a great number of casualties, and was followed by the First Jedi Purge - an exile named Meetra Surik. He fell ass-over-teakettle in love and due to a combination of that and some light blackmail, wound up revealing he was Force sensitive and helping her defeat the remaining Sith Lords. She left and got killed shortly afterwards.
  • Now he's a Jedi (one of the Lost Jedi), running between the other baby Jedi trying to rebuild the Order and teaching at Fandom High. It works for him. So far.
  • Atton's got two Force talents: he's essentially telepathy-proof by using base feelings and an insane attention to detail as a shield, and is a natural Determinator (or as some people put it: the Force doesn't want him dead) meaning he can get up from almost all lethal wounds within a minute.
  • Has Very Strong Feelings about people who abuse the Force's mind-controlling and telepathic abilities.
  • His canon is my favorite part of Star Wars ever and if you insult it I will fight you.

Tamsin ([livejournal.com profile] fjordicswagger)

  • Tamsin's from the supernatural clusterfuck TV series Lost Girl, about a pansexual succubus ([livejournal.com profile] nookiepowered), her best friend Kenzi ([livejournal.com profile] regretiz4suckas) and her menagerie of on-again, off-again love interests as they navigate the dangerous world of the Fae.
  • The writing is very uneven and I like to pretend season 5 doesn't exist, but it's pretty and full of awesome people on the L/G/B spectrum.
  • Tamsin joined the show in its third season, originally as the (police) partner of series regular Dyson. She quickly becomes entangled in everyone's going-ons and (of course) over time, falls in love with our succubus, Bo.
  • She is also a complete badass, an ancient - certainly more than a thousand years old - Valkyrie Fae who spent a great deal of her life working as a mercenary and a leader of armies. She's endlessly sarcastic, takes no guff, and prefers to solve her problems with violence.
  • Much like certain other characters of mine, she drinks a lot and she likes to bang pretty people, but tends to see the latter as more or less disposable when it comes right down to it.
  • While she's technically a Dark Fae, she's got a good, soft heart buried under several layers of Nordic stoicism and warrior toughness.
  • As a Valkyrie, she's entitled to a certain amount of direct reincarnations, and she has the power to Doubt-- which is to say, enkindle and increase the doubt and fear in someone else's heart, to the point where it will paralyze them or even knock them out.
  • She's coming up on the end of her second-to-last life, however, and Doubting takes an increasing amount of energy. So she likes to avoid it.
  • She serves as Fandom's Mayor. She spends a lot of her time tormenting her aide, the perpetually chipper Bright Eyes, trolling the island, and being incredibly no-nonsense about the island's many invasions.
  • She once held a legendary BYOB party during Sex Pollen week. She still thinks that's the best mayoral thing she's ever done.
  • Shares a house with Death, [livejournal.com profile] living_endless. It's weirdly comfortable. Possibly partly because Tamsin's job description used to involve bringing dead warriors to Valhalla.
  • ... though that got weird when she gave up a soul in exchange for a few more lives a long time ago. Ahem.

Obi-Wan Kenobi ([livejournal.com profile] saddeserthermit)

  • Obi-Wan comes from that Wars of the Stars-y thing you might have heard of. Y'know. That one.
  • Specifically, he hails from right after the book Kenobi, which is set right after Revenge of the Sith; as such, he takes more after Clone Wars Obi-Wan (but sadder) than the Obi-Wan of the Original Trilogy.
  • I honestly don't know how much I should say, since y'all probably know this guy already. The short version: Obi-Wan was taken from his parents as a child, and raised as a warrior monk in the Jedi Temple. He wound up aging out of the system before finding a master, and was looking forward (cough) to a lifetime of being a farmer in AgriCorps when a Jedi Master named Qui-Gon decided to take him under his wing.
  • Because Qui-Gon is a hippie pain in the ass with emotional issues, Obi-Wan grew up to be ragingly sarcastic ball of insecurity with a stoic outer coating. Then Qui-Gon died and left him with this punk kid named Anakin ([livejournal.com profile] sith_happened) to raise. Somewhere along the line he and Anakin became best friends and the Order decided Obi-Wan was the Best Jedi Ever.
  • Obi-Wan never really internalized that last part.
  • Then Anakin turned to the Dark Side and it turned out the galaxy had elected a Sith Lord as their Head of State and Obi-Wan had to cut Anakin's limbs off and basically everything was terrible. So he moved to a desert planet with Anakin's baby son Luke, who he gave to Anakin's step-relatives to raise while he hung around by his lonesome playing Crazy Uncle.
  • A woman fell in love with him at some point, but he sent her away, because that's what Obi-Wan does.
  • Now he spends most of his time living in the woods on Fandom with his two Eopies, attempting to reconcile/spend time with/he isn't even sure what with the island's post-Vader Anakin. It's weird, and it's familiar, and it's... something.
  • He teaches classes with Anakin. They bicker a lot. People have written fanfic about their UST.
  • He's a good man at heart, but a bit stuffy, likes to rub at his beard a lot, and worries and feels guilty about everything forever approximately 24 hours out of each solar day.
  • As a Jedi, he has a wide range of powers, including telekinesis and limited telepathy, badass fighting skills with a lightsaber, the ability to sense trouble, and... a whole bunch of vaguely defined things.
  • Unlike Atton, he has no mind-control ethics, and is not above mind-whammying the weak-minded if he has to.

And the alumni, in short:

Andrew 'Ender' Wiggin Skywalker ([livejournal.com profile] endsthegame)

  • Hails from the novel Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. Originally taken from the second to last chapter of the book, Ender's now gone through all available canon prior to Speaker for the Dead.
  • Don't ask me how I wound up writing a seven-years-and-counting epic romance between a Skywalker ([livejournal.com profile] momslilassassin) and a Wiggin, but I hope it keeps OSC up at night.
  • Ender was once tricked into commiting xenocide - the destruction of an entire species. This and his education and the actions of the adults responsible for him prior to that time have screwed him up emotionally and psychologically.
  • He's been healing slowly for years, with much thanks to Ben in particular. They have a young daughter now, a baby called Valentine Skywalker, named after Ender's sister Valentine Wiggin.
  • But he's still distant around most people, has a pathological need to be needed by the whole while having trouble being needed by specific people, and approaches things from an analytical perspective.
  • He swings by Fandom every summer to teach.

Peter Wiggin ([livejournal.com profile] lockestheway)

  • Peter is Ender's brother - or rather, a brother to a version of Ender. This means that yes, he's also from Ender's Game, though specifically the Shadow series of novels.
  • Peter's been working diligently for years to take over the world. First through blogging, then through maneuvering his way into ceremonial political positions and slowly building them into institutes of real power.
  • A few years ago, he became Hegemon of Earth, one of said ceremonial positions. Through careful maneuvering and the help of his best friend and assistant, [livejournal.com profile] whenshewasnice, he's managed to leverage this into a position as Head of State of a new international federation of states, the Free People of Earth.
  • That means that he's functionally the leader of a goodly portion of South America and Africa, and making headway in Europe while other superpowers are too busy fighting each other to notice.
  • Knows he's going to lose Envy to her budding music career sooner rather than later. Is starting to suspect he's in love with her. Won't let that get in the way of anything, so he's quietly adjusting his operations to make sure she doesn't leave a hole behind when she goes.

Kaidan Alenko ([livejournal.com profile] not_a_whiner)

  • Comes from my favorite space opera, Mass Effect, which I've played roughly a million times.
  • He's a bisexual space marine (tm) with a specific set of telekinetic powers called biotics. He regulates them using an implant. Unfortunately, he's got an older version of the implant, which causes crippling migraines.
  • Kaidan's helped his boss, Commander Shepard, save the universe once. He's currently helping Shepard do it again, in what has to be the slowest canon catchup I've ever written. Sorry, Kaidan.
  • Knows older versions of all the Mass Effect characters currently in game: [livejournal.com profile] fewerexplosions and [livejournal.com profile] goforthe_optics.
  • It's still weird for him, running into people like that, but he's largely gotten used to it over time.

Liara T'Soni [livejournal.com profile] fewerexplosions)

  • Liara's also from Mass Effect, but she's from over fifty years before Kaidan.
  • She's a blue-skinned asari in her forties, which is very young for her species. She will still be considered young for her species in fifty years, when she helps Commander Shepard save the galaxy.
  • Currently, she's an intern for an incredibly distractible asari archaeologist somewhere in the far reaches of her galaxy.
  • She likes this set-up just fine: not only does it offer her solitude, but it also gives her a space for her best friend, [livejournal.com profile] pulseof_life, and Yeul's guardian Caius.
  • Has no idea that one day she'll become a spymaster made of metaphorical iron; she comes across as a quiet, soft-spoken girl who doesn't know how to deal with people very well.

Len

  • I'm Len, I'm one of your admins, and I usually go by Norn on other social media platforms.
  • I can be reached by prince dot of dot bitca at that googley mailey com thing, or ScaryWlsh on AIM, though I don't really go there very often.
  • I own four chickens who are my favorite beings in all the world. Their names are Bintje, Fleur, Troubble and Wild Chicken. We have tried to name Wild Chicken something else, but she is fundamentally Wild Chicken, and I have to respect that.
  • I'm a gaming journalist who would very much like to get a job sometime next year that actually pays a livable wage, please?
  • I'm a Dutch person in the CET timezone, meaning I'm in EST +6 and will fall asleep on you North Americans somewhere in the middle of the day. Sorry about that.
  • Though I'm also an insomniac who will randomly ping you back in the middle of the night, fair warning.
  • I love Space Opera way too much and my brain is full of video game trivia. Sorry!
  • I also get blamed for other people's video game addictions a lot.
  • No, really, I will fight you if you rag on Knights of the Old Republic 2.
