Parents' Weekend - talk about a good excuse to be off the island for a couple of days. Atton didn't have any surviving family members or old friends, which made the whole concept moot. He liked it that way, anyway. The less people caring about him, the better off everyone involved would be.

But that was over now, the pollen had lifted from Fandom, and Atton-- Atton was having trouble sleeping. Staying asleep, at any rate. This marked the second morning he woke up from a dream of blood and pain and anger, his heart beating fast in his chest and his body ready to veer up and get the hell out before whatever it was that was after him--

There was nothing after him. There is nothing after you.

He reached out of the bed to grab his pants and tug 'em on under the blankets. (No reason to flash his roommate.)

There was nothing after him.
