The Handmaiden | "...Don't think I don't know what you are doing," the Handmaiden snapped. "Those are Atris' files you stole." Somehow neither Kreia nor Atton looked impressed by this. |
Atton | "What the hell are you even doing on our ship?" Atton asked, leaning against the doorway to the main chamber. Seriously. He was still trying to figure that one out. |
Handmaiden | "I have joined you because I believe I can help you against this threat," the Handmaiden replied, sounding irritated. |
Atton | Ugh. Now that Meetra wasn't here, Atton could at least unleash the stuff he'd been bottling up since she joined. "Sister, you and yours are the threat." |
Handmaiden | "If it comforts you to believe that, then so be it," the Handmaiden said, her eyes narrowing. "But the enemies you face are many, and you need all the help you can get." |
Atton | "Well, I don't really want your help," Atton said, crossing his arms. "Or that of any of your sisters." |
Handmaiden | The Last of the Handmaidens rolled her eyes. "It is just me," she pointed out snappishly, "And I am here because Atris believes you will need help." |
Kreia | Kreia's eyes darted to Atton. She had weathered this nonsense for long enough. "What does one more matter to our journey?" she said. "I have had enough of this. I will be in my chambers." |
Atton | Yeah, well, you weren't the only one who had better things to do, Kreia. "Yeah, me, too," Atton said, fake-merrily. "I'll be in my chambers. But since I don't have any, I guess I'll just go to the cockpit like I always do." He rolled his eyes, too. "If she's staying with us, she gets the cargo hold," he said. "Might remind her how much fun it is to get locked up." He pulled away from the doorway. "I'm going to go take another look at our guest," he said. "You." He nodded at the Handmaiden. "Meetra wants to see you outside the ship." With that, he turned around and paced back into med-bay. |
Miraluka | The Miraluka was no longer asleep. She was sitting in a meditation position on top of the med-bay bed, seemingly lost in thought. |
Atton | "Well, look who's up," Atton commented. He walked inside and grabbed a seat by the bed. "I've got some questions for you - and don't think about any funny business. There's a blaster between me and you." There was, as it turned out. "How about we start with your name." |
Visas | The Miraluka was silent for a moment longer. "My name is Visas Marr," she said at last. "My life belongs to your master." |
Atton | Ah. She was one of those Sith. "She's not my master," Atton said. "Anybody's master, really. How are you feeling?" |
Visas | "I feel that I am able to serve," Visas replied, "Should your master enter battle, I am willing to fight and die beside her." |
Atton | "You're not really listening to me, are you?" Atton asked. Then again, who on board this ship really did? "Not what I asked, sweetheart." |
Visas | There was some hesitation in the girl's voice now. "I..." She had not heard a question like that in some time. "My flesh is healed." |
Atton | "Well, that's good to know," Atton said casually, but he meant it. "Now how the hell did you find us?" |
Visas | "I felt her, through the Force," Visas said quietly. "Like a sound at the edge of my hearing. When I found it, I knew that I could not ignore it." |
Atton | More Force mumbo jumbo. The girl was Sith all right. But whose Sith was she? "Who sent you?" |
Visas | "I serve my Master," Visas said. "I am an emissary. A scout." She tilted her head up thoughtfully. "My Master was aware of a disturbance in the Force, but was unaware of its nature, of her. The disturbance is not something one feels from a living thing." |
Atton | "Are you calling her a zombie?" Atton asked, half-annoyed, half-amused. "'Cause I think we'd have noticed that." |
Visas | "A zombie...?" |
Atton | "Never mind," Atton said. "Fandom thing. Look--" |
Visas | "Fandom," Visas echoed, and pursed her lips. "I thought I recognized the communication device I heard you using in my slumber..." |
Atton | Oh, great. Now his head was starting to hurt. "Don't tell me you've been to Fandom," Atton said. "I'd think I'd have remembered that." |
Visas | "It was... a long time ago," Visas said slowly. "There was a murmur in the Force. I followed it there and found many Jedi. They thwarted my efforts. When I tried to return to it later, it was as if the way had been blocked to me. My Master was... displeased, in his way." She cast her mind back to that time. "I had hoped to find her there," she said. "But the island held other surprises. As it seems you know..." Perhaps she could use him, later, to return to it. |
Atton | "Sounds like 'em all right. Small galaxy," Atton muttered. Seriously. Such a headache. "So where is this Master of yours right now?" |
Visas | "I do not know. His vessel goes where even I cannot follow it, until he calls for me," Visas replied. "But even if I knew, I would not tell you. She is not ready." |
Atton | "You know she's not going to take that for an answer," Atton said, rubbing at his forehead. He let out a breath. "Look-- I gotta know. What is a Miraluka doing all the way out here? I thought your people vanished after your planet... well, you know." |
Visas | There was a long pause. Visas had not spoken of this subject in some time - largely because there was no one to speak to. "Jedi came to us, on my homeworld," she said. "In great number, to meet and discuss how to battle what struck them from the darkness. That is what killed them. When my Master came, he destroyed them... my people... and left only me. I do not presume to know his reasons." She had her theories, but she would not share them with this one. |
Atton | "You were there when your planet blew up?" Atton asked, staring. |
Visas | "It was not... blown up," Visas said. "It was reduced to something else. A wound." How much else would she tell him, she wondered? "But yes-- to see everything around you extinguished... it was... it was as if the Force bled from the world." She pursed her lips. "I imagine there is worse pain, but I do not know of it," she said, "And that is all I will tell you." |
Atton | "Fine," Atton said. Sure. Okay. Whatever. "That leaves me with just one question - are you going to attack us again?" |
Visas | "No," Visas said serenely. She folded her hands in her lap. "I shall serve her." And then she fell silent. |
Atton | "I'm still going to lock the med-bay," Atton informed her, getting back up out of his seat. "You get some rest. I'll let her know you're back up and walking." |
