Atton

It had been 24 standard hours, and Atton was officially out of things to fix. At this point, all he was doing was taking out screws and then putting them back in again - waiting for the old scow to contact him and tell him it was time to move.

Ugh.

And to make things worse--

"Oh, great, what do you want now?" Atton asked, looking up to meet Mical's startled big bantha eyes. "To give me a hand, again? I told you, I don't need any help, especially from you."

Mical

Mical held his hands up in a placating gesture. "Look, I believe there has been some miscommunication between us regarding the Exile..."

Atton

"No, I understand you just fine--"

Atton's commlink whistled loudly. He practically leaped at it, hitting the buttons until he got the message from... Kreia.

"Okay, we don't have time for this," he said. "Meetra's back and this bucket of bolts is just about fixed."

He slipped past Mical, down the hall and out the back of the ship. No way was he waiting around here when it looked like they could finally get off this rock.

Atton

It was a long trek all the way up to the base. Atton couldn't say he was exactly happy with being surrounded with people who were very clearly Mandalorians.

But they let him through. He squared his shoulders and kept going.

Meetra

They'd been back for a little while now, but Meetra had had much to discuss with Mandalore. The man wanted to come with them, if simply to be sure that there would be no Sith left to enslave Mandalorians to their cause again.

She was mildly confused when she heard Atton's voice behind her.

Atton

"The Ebon Hawk is patched up and ready to go," Atton reported, his gaze flicking only briefly towards Mandalore. "When you're ready to depart, we can ask the guide here to take us back to the ship."

Meetra

Meetra nodded, motioning towards the guard. She walked up front, the rest of her team hanging back just far enough that she could make quiet conversation with Atton without them overhearing.

"We're not done yet," she said quietly. "I found Kavar, but we were attacked, and he fled. Onderon's restless - there's a civil war raging over its ties to the Republic. That's why they tried to keep us out."

Atton

Atton nodded. "So what's the plan?"

Meetra

"We go to Korriban, to find the next Jedi Master," Meetra replied. "That should give Kavar enough time to rally his people. We'll then come back here and rendezvous with him."

Atton

"Well, at least we'll be forewarned this time, so they might not shoot us out of the sky," Atton said dryly.

And he could've said more, honestly - except suddenly he had cause to bring up his lightsaber, barely remembering to turn the damn thing on with its signature snap-hiss-- just catching a vibroblade coming his way, courtesy of an angry Sith assassin.

Fantastic.

Meetra

This was almost starting to get routine, wasn't it?

There were six of them here - Atton, Mandalore, Mira, Visas, the guide and herself. There were eight of them. It was no match at all.

When the battle finished and the Sith laid dead at their feet, Meetra blew out a breath. "Well, I guess we know they're still around..."

Atton

Atton shook his head. "Yeah," he muttered. "It'd help if we got some more lightsabers in here, though, I can tell you that much."

Fighting Force users with blasters was always a dangerous affair.

Meetra

Meetra stepped beside him again and said, very quietly, "I think Mira's Force-sensitive."

Atton

"I noticed you were making friends with her," Atton muttered. "Not that I can blame you, she's a scrapper. You don't survive Nar Shaddaa for very long if you're not. What makes you think she's Force-sensitive?"

Meetra

"I don't know, there's something about her," Meetra said softly. "Mical, as well, for that matter."

Atton

Atton was going to elect to ignore that last part because it was stupid.

"Then I think we should make a stop past Nar Shaddaa," he said lightly. "Those of us who adapt to that place - there's no easier place to make us listen."

Meetra

"You might be right," Meetra said thoughtfully.

Atton

"In the mean time, I wouldn't let anything she says get to you," Atton added. Look, he'd heard... some of their conversations. "It's a wonder you cracked her attitude at all. She's as cold as the ship's hull."

Okay. Nar Shaddaa. Then Korriban.

He could do that. Probably.

(He really didn't want to go back to Korriban.)
